Our members are proud to be positive role models for young people by displaying a sense of good sportsmanship, personal integrity and ethical conduct and look forward to continued growth regionally and nationally.
Who are the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls? With the revival of women’s roller derby sweeping the nation, the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls were established in January 2006 with the hope of bringing the thrill and excitement of the game to the Valley. The Lehigh Valley Rollergirls are the area’s only women’s flat track roller derby league, and have rapidly grown from just a handful of women meeting at open skates to full WFTDA members with two currently competing travel teams. LVRG has received much attention from local media outlets, including PBS and Pulse Weekly, and even traveled to Montreal in June 2007 to play in one of the first international roller derby bouts since the revival of the sport. This non-profit, skater-owned and operated league is dedicated to promoting strong women and the spirit of sisterhood, both on and off the track. When not in the rink, the girls can often be found at various community events in the area. To learn more about the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls, contact the league manager.

The Hissy Fits Putting gum on your wheels, pulling your hair and whoopin’ a whole lot of ass, the Hissy Fits are out making a name for themselves. These naughty reform school drop-outs are the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls’ all-star team, traveling to and fro, leaving chaos wherever they go. |
The Special Vixens Unit In the world of roller derby, some teams are considered especially dangerous. In the Lehigh Valley, the dedicated women who instigate these vicious blocks, jams, and take-downs are members of an elite squad known as the Special Vixens Unit. These are their stories. Newly formed in 2008, these skaters are ready to lay down the law to every team that comes their way.

Refs and Volunteers
Lehigh Valley Rollergirls could not do what they do without the help of a very talented and dedicated group of people. Reffs, announcers, mascots, statisticians, artists, web programmers, score board operators, DJ’s, bout set-up and clean-up, they help with it all. And most times with nothing more than love as payment. Without them, the game could not go on.
What is the difference between a league and a team?
A league is a local organization dedicated to promoting the sport of roller derby, and consists of active skaters, injured skaters, neophyte skaters (known as "fresh meat") and referees. A team is a roster of active skaters that compete in public competitions called bouts. Each league can have an unlimited amount of teams. Currently the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls league features two teams: the Hissy Fits and the Special Vixens Unit. For bouts, each team will field a maximum roster of 14 skaters.
Lehigh Valley Rollergirls are members of the Womens Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). For more information on WFTDA’s mission, philosophy and rules visit http://wftda.com/ |
